I have located a distributor with what appears to be a correct tag with the following imprinted - 1110879 7B27. I know the 879 was used on mid to late '56' models. Was 879 used in '57'? All the information I have says no. Is this a Corvette or car distributor? Thanks for any and all help. Jeff

Re: C-1 distributor
Likely an over the counter GM replacement. 1110985 was used, for example, only on 1962's with 340 HP. Yet they were sold over the counter until about 10 years ago, so if you bought one in 72, 82, or 92 you were in good shape--othewise you had a wrong date.- Top

Re: C-1 distributor
Jeff, What you have is likely a service part. It is designed specifically for a 265 engine. The casting varies from the 891 distributor commonly used for 283 dual point applications. You will note a flat spot low on the casting's shaft and an extra oil hole. These were necessary on the 265 for proper oiling. Parts needed to be available to service 265 applications because the "new" 283 part would not permit the engine to oil properly. I believe that it would work in a 283 but a 891 would not work in an originally configured 265.- Top
