who is better at repo parts and meet ncrs standards....paragon or zip, any others and any problems you have had. thanks.

You've really opened a can of worms with this one. If you have a choice, always restore the original part yourself or if you're not so inclined, send it to someone who can. If that's not an option and you have to resort to repro's, be prepared to examine it carefully and return it if not satisfied. If you can't tell the difference, try to find a someone with experience to help you. As far as the catalog houses are concerned, they're all bad if you're looking for something as good as original. Generally speaking, the NCRS judges can almost always identify a repro - don't try to fool them. But don't worry too much, they'll give you partial credit if it's a good repro. I got most of my stuff from Corvette Central but in the end, I don't think their stuff is any better or worse than anybody else's. Don't be fooled by an ad that says 'correct' - it usually isn't.

Mike is as they used to say: "Right as rain." Sometimes I feel like I've spent as much on return postage as I have on getting the parts shipped when I bought them! But I'm the first to admit that I'm very picky.
I convinced that there is no ideal one-stop shopping place to obtain "correct" parts. After a while you learn whos part is best for that particular application. It is my opinion that obtaining s parts is the worst part of an automobile restoration. Next is getting people to do the work that you don't want to do, in a timely, cost effective manner.
The Corvette restoration hobby is a labor of love. If anyone is unwilling to accept that (but still wants to drive a Corvette), I would seriously recommend that they go out and buy a car that meets their expectations and get on down the road.
As they also say: "My $.02 worth".

Ted- is so right on, most old timers can tell the difference right off. But many owners have no concern today,each year I see more and more ( I call kit cars)at NCRS meets.I never see swap meets advertised any more at meets.I'v been to three NCRS meets and nationals latley and had parts to sell for C1's and only the old timers buy and know an original part. because they are purist and wont to have an original Corvette. Yes! I know there are times when finding the original part is hard or the cost is greater. Pressure to get the vett ready for a show or on the road is important. But I think it's to easy for many to buy a repro.then going to the trouble to find the right part or even after finding it then to change it. Having judged for NCRS over 30 years I find more and more owners thinking and seeing a repro part that they, the repro's are original and NOT the original part being original any more. I see less and less concern by judges concerning the original column each year.
