C2 '66 hubcaps

Yesterday, I picked up a nice set of '66 hubcaps for my neighbor's '66 BB. The person had two sets available: one with natural 'gray' metallic finish on the five spokes (somewhat 'rough' to the touch). The other set had these spokes painted a black finish.

I'm convinced the black spokes are not original. True?

And, that the ones with the gray metallic finish are correct. True?
