How much play is acceptable in the third arm on C1 steering? I noticed that the one on my '61 has some slight up-and-down motion to it while turning the wheels lock-to-lock. There is noticeable wander when driving down the road, and I was almost convinced it was due to an alignment problem, but now I wonder. Any ideas or comments?

After replacing the bearing in mine (62) I have essentially no up and down play. Good luck. -

I agree, install a new bearing, it's quite easy. The BCA part number is 5206KE. It would also be wise to order a seal (to go between the steering arm and bracket) from some place such as Corvette CentralComment

what was your source for the bearing? I replaced mine and still have same vertical motion as before. -kComment

Also to help stop your wandering get roller bearings in front and take out the ball bearings.Comment
