    underbody reinforcement finish

What finish for 1965 should ; for example: rocker moulding mounts, seat belt reinforcements, seat mount plates, body mount reinforcement brackets, etc. have. I saw some at Bloomington and the seat front reinforcements varied from flat to semi-gloss. I will be removing some of the body mounts and reinforcements to clean up and re-rivet onto body. Any and all information appreciated. Thanks! Dick Gutman

Heater hose seal at the fire wall on C2

Here is what I found on the bottom of my body during the restoration of my 65 coupe:
Front seat mount reinforcement was semi gloss black
Rear seat reinforcements were grey phosphate
Seat belt reinforcement plates were silver cad
Read body brace (in front of gas tank and vertical) was natural.
Park brake bracket under foot well was natural.
Splash shield bracket (one on each side at front of foot well) were semi gloss black.

Of course there is the ongoing opinions on the correct semi gloss black or black out - Krylon, John Deer blitz black ... I used a lot of Krylon semi flat black.

Just to add another variable, if it is an AOS body, certain underbody brackets and reinforcements are zinc chromate.(green)

Jerry - I don't think you will find any paint that looks like gray phosphate with the slight sparkles etc. I did find a great stainless steel paint from Seymour that Steve Hack put me on to for the look of raw steel though, but I would not use it for gray phosphate parts....Craig
