Re: All in Favor of Mike's Motion.....

OK Guys, You feel the need for the issue of 15,000 membership cards with the postage, printing and envelopes. And you'd like me to go to bat for you. May I assume you are not the same population that would complain if you had to pay $5 for a day pass at an NCRS event and you don't want an increase in NCRS dues. Talk to me. Don't upset me, just talk to me. Dennis

i'd favor free membership cards( that would get one into NCRS day events gratus) and a lowering of the annual dues to a buck fifty. my 150 cents worth( of BS) mikie

Re: Sign up for the judging program!

You want a card...sign up for the judging program! You'll get one every year. Otherwise as DC indicated...lots of cost incurred for the few who wish something from their national HQ to state "we know you're out there!"

Those most interested and ask are those who attend events, post correspondence to this board and feel the need for contact from the national office. Perhaps the incentive should be for those who are "active" members versus "passive" members. Active members get more benes.

Clearly the vast majority are in it for the Restorer and Driveline and for their $30 do not see the need to contribute. I'm confident 90% who post are contributors to the organization (do events, judge and post) and this is not unlike membership figures for any national organization...membership organizations are membership organizations regardless whether the focus is accounting, well drilling or Corvettes. There are rather sophiscated studies that reveal what members expect and what they contribute. Those at the top contribute and maintain membership because it is being a good corporate citizen...others at the other end of the continuum...need specific, identifiable benefits. A membership organization must accommodate them all.

A membership card is another benefit. Send it on their first day of membership. As they contribute they get more...you do some judging...you get another card...once a year. Another suggestion is to send renewal benefits such as a few years ago...if you renrewed for two years, you got your choice of the C2 or C3 spec guide. Nice surprise! So with a two year renewal...send them two passes for free entry to an event. Those that do everything...deserve the break today but the intent is to "activate" the casual member to take on a greater role of participation in NCRS events. Make it a regional or national event. Incentiveize, incentiveize, incentivize is the name of the game today and it takes creative member marketing and a few dollars but the bottom line is that the organization must get something out of the addtional incremental investment of limited membership dollars to provide additional benefits.

If that's already in place...we're good to go! Is that what you needed DC?
