Winter Regional

I have been told by a friend in the Orlando area that the Hyatt Orlando where the last several NCRS Winter Regional Meets have been held has been closed. Is this true and if so, how will it effect this January's scheduled meet? I like to make my travel plans well in advance.

I just confirmed with Hyatt reservations that the Hyatt Orlando Hotel is in fact closed. When I asked about the show I was told it would not be held there.
Now I'm depressed....that was a great site for judging(indoor), show, swap meet and auction. Maybe Disney??? I know they held it there one year but the cost was very high.

Hi there:

Vinnie Peters was at our meet last weekend and told us that the Hyatt has closed. The bank took it over. The Florida Chapter folks are searching for a new location. He told us there would be a mailing and/or a posting on the board once more details are known.

He also cautioned us on making plane and hotel reservations until more details are announced.

Hi All,

Before rumors spread like wildfire. Here's the latest. Ed Augustine only found out about the hotel closing last week. Too late to get the info in the issue of the Driveline that was at the printers.

The event will take place in Old Town about one mile from the original site on the same scheduled dates. The only draw back is the entire event will be outside which we all can live with. Hotels are plentiful and reasonable. Will update you as more info comes in.

Florida's Lock??

Why does Florida have a lock on the Winter Regional?? The Winter Regional is always in Florida? Why are they not force to rotate like the other chapters? I guess I am stiring the pot.

My understanding is that a "local chapter" petitions to host a regional event. The petition process is not an easy process and PERHAPS, none of the other local chapters in the South Region have/want to take the time to fill out the paperwork, etc. required to be the host. Just surmising on my part.

The Quebec Chapter

once drafted a petition to hold a Regional every January, but stopped when we realized that the deduct for having studded snow tires and engine block heaters would bump too many cars out of Top Flight status.
