My seat belts match the judging guide in every respect except the location of the label on the male or "D" ring belt. Instead of being at the upper end as specified in the JG, the label is down by the mount near the floor in the same location as on the belt with the buckle. I assume these are some sort of repros. My wife has volunteered to move the label, and I would appreciate it greatly if someone could provide some location dimensions via this forum, e-mail or fax. Thanks in advance!

Re: '64 Seat Belt Label Location -Original vs. Rep
I understand your dilemma. I have a very early (Sept '63 production) '64 which has the original cloth tag attached (actually dated 1963) at the end close to the buckle. I also have a June '64 car that has repro Paragon belts on it with the tag dated '64 at the end near the floor. My guess is perhaps there was a change in mid-year. It will be interesting hearing from others.- Top

Do NOT change the location of the tag!
If you actually run across a judge that is that anal and stupid to not believe that HUMANS actually sewed the label on in a place that the "plan" did not dictate, help he/she across the street so they don 't get hit by a car. You probably cannot duplicate the sewing in the first place.- Top

Re: '64 Seat Belt Label Location -Original vs. Rep
Scott, my early Oct. '63 built '64 coupe has the original seat belts and the labels are located at the froor mount bracket- not the buckle. They are sewn so that the word "Chevrolet" is closest to the mounting plate.- Top
