My 56 has a replacement Wagner Master cylinder that I'm replacing. I believe the 58-62 master cyl # is 6456022 but not sure on the 56/57. I have a 6450233 unit- do I have the correct number? Thanks, joe

Re: C1 master cylinder
Joe, If you'll post the PART NUMBER, I may be able to find the original application for you if it makes a difference. The part number is stamped in the plug on the forward end of the master cylinder. The casting was used for several different applications (notably Buicks) so the casting number alone will not tell the whole story. If you are attempting to replace it with an original, use the stamped part number in combination with the casting number to determine if it's the correct part. Bernie Myers- Top

Re: C1 master cylinder
Joe, It started life on a 1954 or 1955 Buick with manual brakes. There is likely a casting date on it (L/H outboard toward front) that will give a good indication of which model year.- Top
