C1 Wiper cable durm "top" position

The insulator covered (bar) or bracket opposite the cable drum is stamped "top".
What position should the "top" be as related to the wiper motor? (motor or actuator side?) How can you tell if this is the proper position to start cabling the drum?

It's been a while since I've done this, but I seem to remember the rectangular plate being prety much horizontal. It should be at approximately the position of the mating piece on the motor when the motor is parked. When you attach cables teh drum wants to be pretty close to the "park" position. The cables can be a real PITA to get on at best.
