    C-4 questions

    Hi:

I recently acquired a 1986 and am working out a few "bugs" with the car. I thought maybe some of the C-4 owners might have had similar difficulties and might offer a suggestion or two.

On my C-3 I have a battery disconnect, the question is can you put a disconnect on a C-4 (1986) without messing up the computer settings??

I noticed my wipers only work on high speed and don't park correctly. Anyone had experience with wipers on a 1986 got any ideas?

Lastly, the cassette play seems to have the eject button stuck. Tapes won't stay in. Anyone know of a way to fix this without pulling the entire radio out of the car,

    Thanks, John

    Re: C-4 questions

    John:
I have an '86 coupe. On your first question, I would not suggest using a battery disconnect. All of your clock and radio settings will have to be done over when the battery is reconnected. There is an aftermarket device you can buy that will retain these settings if the battery is disconnected.
I know that NCRS gives bonus points for a battery disconnect even for the '84-'86 Corvettes that are now part of the judging process.

      Hi John,

there are disconnecting switches with a "small" bypass.
It is a wire parallel to the switch with a fuse in it (1 or 2 Amp.). Your settings will stay until someone will start the car. In this case the fuse will blow.
Take a closer look to this kind of switch.

Tape player fix will probably require removing the radio. Actually,it is not difficult. The rubber drive wheels deteriorate with time. I removed mine and took it to an automotive radio repair shop. In my opinion, the only way to go.
