C3 Radiator/Expansion Tank Inspection Stamp/Labels

Judges,

1) TIM/JG states many '70-72 cars, with expansion tanks (like mine), came with inspection label(s) on the tanks. Corvette Central has two labels, both white with green numerials (one is the number 3, the other number 7). Are these "correct"? If so, where do they go on the tank? Which should I use, 3, 7, or both?

2) Corvette Central has an "Aluminum Radiator Inspection Stamp Kit". It looks to be black with white markings reading..."16 CT". Does anyone know if this is correct and for what cars? What does it mean? Where does it go on the radiator?

Inspection labels for both radiator and expansion tank were applied with traditional 'variance/slop' by inspectors. For judging purposes apply it to the expansion tank so it can be seen/judged easily. I've seen 'em on the end of the tank facing the engine, on the side of the tank and on the top of the tank. As far as what number on the label is 'correct', I think that's also variable based on individual inspection line. You'll find the Paragon catalog lists the '8' decal as correct for expansion tank and the '3' decal as correct for the radiator. Personally, if its there, I don't really concern myself with the exact digit.

On the '16 CT' issue, this was a rubber stamp applied to the aluminum radiator. The rubber stamp was dipped in white ink then applied to the radiator somewhere in the viscinity of where the rad's PN/date code is embossed. I've seen various shades of white down to true cream tone on NOS aluminum rads of the era still in original boxes. Darkening of the white ink may well be the result of age/shelf life with the ink blending with the rad's exterior paint over time....

Funny I should read your post as theirs a NOS expansion tank setting on my desk
that I was looking up it appication ,pn 3016340 date coded 79j and it has a clear sticker 1 1/4" x 3/4" with a
green 7 placed just above the r's in harrison tilted to the right.

Jack, so the 7 or 8 goes on the tank and the 3 on the radiator? Where on the radiator, do you know?

I recieved a small deduct on my 73 for not having this very same label. I have asked numerous people and in 73 no label was applied to the expansion tank--------------------right--------wrong?
