    Final Monthly Numbers

My car is a 1965 small block vert.. My build date on the trim tag is E17 but the final numbers for December 1964 are 105754. My serial number, without disclosing it(unsure if I should) is about 200 more than this. Will this be a problem when I get her judged? Was this due to the holiday season. Thanks!

I think that E 17 date is the body build date, not the car build date which would obviously be later.

Bet you have an AO Smith body (A-xxxx) BODY [on trim tag]. Time to ship from Ionia Mich; time spent in the basement at St.Louis before sequenced into the chassis final assembly line, along with the S-bodies.

            Dick:

It's okay if the assembly date of your car is in Jan 1965. If you are 200 cars into January, then it was likely built in the first week, and probably on the 4th workday of the month. As long as the engine build, and body build both predate the final build, then all is okay. Your Smith body was built on 12/17, and your engine was built on 12/16. There is generally a 6 month "window" for components to predate the final build, and you are well within it.

The engine block casting date is L154. It is an 870 block. Thanks for the Info.
