66 L79: Need radiator/heater hose recommendation

Can anyone recommend the best source for radiator hoses and heater hoses (for my 66 L79) that are likely to get the fewest points deducts? Some of the regular sources I've bought from in the past seem to offer hoses that don't appear to be the same, so I don't who has the more correct items.

I am planning on getting the belts from Quanta, but I've heard good things about Dr. Rebuild with regard to hoses. Did you buy your hoses from Quanta and, if so, have you had your car judged with those hoses to know what kinds of deducts I might expect?

My concern with the Dr. Rebuild hoses, is that it looks like their hose kits have hoses either all with logos or all without logos. In the 66 TIM&JG is appears that the some hoses should have the logos and some shouldn't, so I'm confused.

You're not the only one - the '67 TM&JG calls for the 5/8" hose to be non-ribbed, with the GM logo and square box symbol, and none of the kits have that; all are ribbed. I found a non-ribbed and properly-logoed 5/8" hose at Paragon, their #2000 - it's for '68-'82 and has a molded end, but it's longer than a '67 needs and you just cut off the molded end and it works fine. It also calls for the 3/4" hoses to be 4-ribbed and NON-logoed, and the Doc has those, or just take the 3/4" ribbed and logoed hose that comes in most kits and wipe off the logos.

Gary -

Yup - I use 3M "General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner" for stuff like this - mineral spirits/lacquer thinner would work too. Just dampen a rag with it, and the ink wipes right off, and a swipe to remove any residue.

The 66 is in about 1.5 million pieces...or however many a 66 can be in. At the rate of progress we're making, it will be ready for my son's retirement party.

It was my 72, #461 in the pictures on the macncrs site. I bought the car all original and complete. By FAR the way to go.

I believe that the Doc was the supplier of absolutely exact hoses until a little more than 2 years ago. I ended up buying mine from him, at Carlisle 2001, and "doctoring" them as per John H. above. Those logos are rather fragile, so almost anything will remove them. I used gasoline because the lacquer thinner was too aggressive (started to take the rubber, along with the ink). The reason I liked the Doc's hoses was that they were smooth ("....without the textured appearance of replacement hoses......"). As far as I know, there is no longer anybody who makes hoses which are exact in every way, so the easiest thing to "fix" is the ink stamps.
This may have changed since Carlisle 2001, but I venture to say that it probably has not, if the above posts are any indication.
