C3 Build Sheet Question - Help

Can someone please help me with a few questions concerning my 1974 build sheet which I just removed from my tank? The right side of the tank sheet is blank but fortunately the left side is fully ledgible and all the option codes are in tact.

1. Can you provide me with a link to a web site where I can view a sample of a COMPLETE 1974 tank sticker? The 74 is different than a late 60's sticker. If not a web site, any publications out there that have samples of complete stickers?

2. Is it posible to have a tank sticker restored so that someone can read the type that is missing? I can see faint traces of numbers and words.

3. Under the "color" box, I see the code of 76 appears twice. Once under low and once under up. What does this mean? What is 76? Did GM mean 976?

76U/76L is GM-speak for upper and lower body colors (Fisher Body convention); defines upper and lower colors separately so they could code two-tone paint on the (Body Shop-installed) trim tag for the Paint Shop on steel-bodied cars. The trim tag wasn't on the body in the Corvette Paint Shop, but the Corvette production scheduling documents used the corporate convention for color coding anyway.

Your local library can refer you to a document preservationist, but their work is pretty expensive; many folks have had good luck taking digital photos and working them into very successful/readable images with PhotoShop, etc.

The "76" is the 1974 GM paint code for Mille Miglia Red; all paint codes were prefixed with a "9" - thus, "976".

Steve If the 73 is like the 74 at the lower left was the dealers name, location, zone, dealer number, and order number which needs to be put on the window sticker if you have one made. You said you can't read the upper right which is where the complete VIN is on a 73. The things on the right side on the last 4 inches are the speedo gear and other little things but no options. You were lucky as the left side has the most information Lyle

Is the tank the only place for the build sheet? I think my 72 has had a new tank put in and I would like to know if they hide these thing elsewhere in the car.
