Thanks to everyone for the color discussion. Original SILVER it is. My wife says with silver use a black convertible top, she wanted red with white top. Thanks again I already have two red vetts.

I don't want to add fuel to a marital dispute, but in 73 all exterior colors could be ordered with either white or black convertible tops. Your wife is probably saying that silver would look better with a black top, but you could get either top color with all exterior colors.
From the originality stand point, you get a pass on this one. The top color is not stamped on the trim plate, and to my knowledge, there is no way that the original top color can be documented short of having the tank sticker, build sheet, or other order documents.
If it were me, I would put the top back to the original color if I knew it; otherwise, I would do what I liked the best. If your climate permits, the black would probably look the classiest with the black interior and the silver exterior. I would wait until replacement if the top was in good shape.
