I'm trying to locate a correct 2818 Holley carb for my 65 Corvette (L79).
Car build date is Nov 27, 1964. Engine casting date is I 12 4, which I read to be Sep 12, 1964.
What date code should I look for on the carb? Should it precede the casting date of the block by a few weeks (i.e. late August to September 12), or should it be after September 12?
Also, should the carb be 2818 or 2818-1?

Carburetors wer installed at St Louis, so the final assembly date of the vehicle is the only date to consider, and two weeks or more before the vehicle assembly would be reasonable. I have never seen any other than a 2818-1, however if a properly date coded 2818 were seen on a '64 car it would not be a surprise.

Murray - I had a correctly dated 2818 (came on my 67, so was wrong for that) that I sold on Ebay a couple years ago, was early sept if I recall, with an Aug dated 4461 manifold. If I recall, it had 2818-1 on the horn. Maybe I kept a photo of it, I will look.....Craig
