Hi Folks,
I am new to this forum and am searching for some assistance. I recently
purchased a 68 convertible in nice but not mint condition. The frame is
solid but does have a bit of scaley rust at the end of the side rails. I am
hoping to get it cleaned off and then stopped from further erosion before
the structural integrity of the frame is compromised. (some time away as
even the rusty area is still solid). I harbor faint hopes of perhaps
entering a "survivor" series so I don't want to obliterate the frame and any
paint underneath with a harsh wire brush. I have heard a multitude of
suggestions from dawn to a castrol product (Super Clean) to navel jelly to rustuleom etc.
Does anyone have direct experience doing a similar project. I've got to
believe this is a very common issue among older Vettes.
Many thanks in advance,
Jim Gauthier
