Re: TITLES ?????
I can speak for Michigan, but I expect it is the same everywhere. When you present an out of state title, they have a reference data bank they use to verify that the title is in fact correct for the state of issue. If it is, they attach it to the new title application, and it is sent in with all the paperwork.- Top

Re: TITLES ?????
When I did a title search on my car, it had been to Florida, PA and Michigan. Each state provided the prior owner title information along with a copy of the title for the state in which the car came from. For example, the PA title search showed the car had been owned by two different individuals in PA. The first owner bought the car from a person in Michigan. The PA title information included a copy of the Michigan title- Top

Re: TITLES ?????
I had the same thing in ILL. They didn't ask me but I sent a letter requesting the old title back when I sent the application in and they returned the old title to me voided. The next time they did not. I suspect it depends on the person doing the paperwork for the DMV. Some of the state employees are not known to take on ANYTHING that might cause them to do a little extra work.
