How much time you got left on earth?
The repair that you describe would take an awful lot of time. If you're like most of us, you have maybe ten years of car work left in you. This repair alone could use up half of those years.
You're correct in assuming that some kind of jig would be needed to do it right. You would have to do this repair yourself out of love for that particular car. It doesn't sound financially feasible to hire someone to do it for you.
If the car is in perfect condition otherwise, or if it has some extremely rare options, then I would consider repairing it in your shoes. Otherwise, I'd sell it as-is to one of the dreamers who buy hopelessly ruined (but cheap) Corvettes and never do anything with them. Parting it out would be almost as much work as fixing it and wouldn't generate much more than the wreck as a whole. Well, that's not true if you can get the prices for parts that Piper charges.
Jack, if you respond to this post, please use lower case letters. Your typing with all caps is very hard on old eyeballs.- Top
