I am going to change the anti freeze in my 66 425 horse car and would like to know if ok to use the Dex (pink) solution. Also suggestions on removing all the green stuff if the block plug won't come out. Thanks in advance.

Re: 1966 big block anti freeze
I recommend Dexcool. The system should be thoroughly flushed to remove all traces of the green stuff. A good way to do this is to flush the system backwards from the heater inlet circuit nipple on the inlet manifold. You can buy or rig up and adapter to do this with a garden hose. Whether or not you can remove the block drain plugs, flush until the effluent is colorless and tasteless. Once this is done fill the system with water and run it until the thermostat opens, then drain, and even do this second time.
Flush the heater core circuit, too.

Re: 1966 big block anti freeze
Green stuff has an inorganic inhibitor package. Sure, it prevents corrosion, but fills up your radiator tubes with preciptiates. Green stuff is old technology.
Dexcool uses an organic inhibitor package, which provides better corrosion protection and doesn't clog up the tubes.
Though GM says Dexcool is okay for five years/150K miles in new cars, they don't support this interval in cars that have had green stuff and recommend you keep the same interval as originally recommended, which is typically two years.
