Can anyone give me info on CE number stamping on engine pad? What does the ce stand for, and does the no. behind it have any significence? Were these no.'s dealer stamped or factory? I have a 69 427 with this stamp on it, with a block casting code D7 70, and the build date of the car is March 69.

Re: CE number on block
Tom CE is for Chevrolet Engine. The number after CE corresponds to a sequence number of your 427 short block. 69 Corvettes had a 5 year 50K mile warranty so the casting date of your block falls in the warranty period.
I think I have the record for a CE block in a Corvette. My 70 has one because the original engine came apart in the first 10 miles after leaving the dealership.- Top
