    1959 Aluminum Valve Covers

Can anyone advise as to whether the staggered-hole aluminum valve covers for a 1959 290-HP fuel injected engine are supposed to be the slightly polished (shiny) covers or the duller finish that more closely matches the finish of the fuel injection intake plenum? Thanks.

They were 'as cast'.... For what that means, just take an original that's NOT been off the engine for an appreciable period of time (oxidation exposure), flip it over and look at the underside that spent its life coated/protected by engine oil!
