    Some questions C1 corvette suspension

    Hello Everyone,

I have a some of questions regarding the front suspension.

How do I take appart the third arm and the pitman arm from the drag link. i removed the carter pins and have put knocker loose oil on the threads. Is there a tool I am suppose to use to unscrew the end caps on the drag link?

Also, how do i remove the third arm bearing? I have the crossmember/third arm bracket removed. I used a puller on the items.

I have three rear housings. I am having them sandblasted. Should I primer them or leave them sandblasted to sell? I only need one of them so I wanted to sell the other two. Also, I am having a tough time to figure out the value of each of them. One of the housing had a positraction filler cap.

    Jimmy.

Just use a big screwdriver to remove the end caps. All will be released.
To remove the bearing Hold it in a vise and tap off the arm. If they will be
sitting a long time primer the rear ends to avoid rust. Don't know values.

Back in theold days there was a drag link socket. I still have one. As stated a big screwdriver should work.
Prime the rears with DP-90. That's all they'll ever need.

I remember from my military days there was a 3/8 socket with a flat tip screw driver which I would think would work with my impact wrench. I will see if there is such a thing for the drag link at my local Napa store. Thanks for the information. I will check on the price for a gallon of DP-90.

Sears has drag link sockets in their catalog. Haven't seen them, though, at my local Sears. Other tool places may carry them too. But it's not a popular item.
