    Bird Cage Repair

Has anyone experienced the situation of having to repair a rusty birdcage? For example: Finding a rustout on the door jamb. How involved was the repair in terms of time, cost, and what was done to make it right?

    Thanks.

Plenty in the archives on this
Lots of all, time money and expertise is required. The rusted section , (depending on amount, should probably be replaced by a professional unless you are VERY talented

      Re: Ditto what Jerry says

If your handsy and have a well equipped garage, then your a step ahead.

My 68 was so bad, even though I could have repaired it, I opted to pick up another rust free body for what I know was way less than what I would have had into it in parts, money and last but not least sweat equity.

Best left to the pro's if your not deep into mechanics and body work caus it will require both...............Did I mention plenty of patience too?

Re: Ditto what Jerry & Chuck says

Chuck is right, the time spent fixing it should be spent looking for a rust free body. if there is rot in the lower kicks, then there is probably rust in other areas that you don't see yet.

Chuck, tonight I finally got the last parts of the rear suspension on my frame so it is able to roll on its own for the first time in years! Now I start rebuilding the body. Its been a long time since we emailed each other about possible rust repair options.

          Re: Hey Tom

Just ordered a small boat load of fresh brake and suspension parts for the beast.

With my rust free California frame, Colorado rust free body, and all these new goodies, I might actually be able to have the Zora's brain child rolling around the yard in about oh say .........another couple of years at the rate I'm getting my "Honey Do" list worked down

I'm getting all kinds of hyped up now Dude!!

          Regards,

          Chuck
