    F-40 shocks

I have an original pair of early Delco F-40 heavy duty rear shocks, one of which is pretty worn out, offering very little resistance on extension and compression strokes. Does anyone offer a "rebuild" service for these type of shocks? Thanks, Rex #8089

I'm unaware of anyone that rebuilds these monotube type shocks. I think that this subject has arisen a few times previously on the board and I don't think that anyone else had any suggestions, either. Lever type shocks (like those used on many really old cars and some 50s and 60s foreign cars) can be rebuilt and there are source found in Hemmings for this service. But, the monotube shocks were never designed to be rebuilt.

Many years ago there were commercial rebuilding sources for these, though. However, it was a really bogus rebuild and the "rebuilt" shocks were designed and priced for folks on a REAL low budget situation. I haven't seen or heard of these things in years.
