What was the original base price for a 1967 Corvette convertible? I have what I think is a copy of the original window sticker. The price reads: $4240.75. At a Corvette show this past weekend a fellow had a window sticker on his 1967 which read $4141.00. Are either of these correct? I should add both cars were early production cars.

Re: 1967 Base Price?
Ralph and Rob-----
For Corvettes (but not all other Chevrolet passenger cars of the period),I believe that destination charges were usually "standardized" so that they were the same regardless of where the car was delivered (with the exception of foreign deliveries and, possibly, Alsaka and Hawaii). I believe that all Corvettes of the period were considered a "Group 42" destination charge, regardless of where in the 48 ststaes that they were delivered.
However, there were, at least, 2 other reasons that base prices (and, even, option prices) were not necessarily exactly the same as and as simple as those shown in the "Black Book". These are:
1) Prices sometimes changed during model years; not just at the beginning of a model year. For 1969, there were THREE different base prices during the model year;
2) Something called "Regional Advertising Allowance" was built into the base price of the cars. This was not a large amount (usually about $75-150), but it varied by region. Consequently, base prices varied, too, by region.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Ralph----
Yes, I think that both base price amounts could be correct. The destination charges could also be correct. If both of the window stickers are definitely original, then obviously the destination amounts (and everything else on the window sticker) ARE correct (by definition).
However, it's also very possible that the destination prices changed during the model year. As I mentioned, as far as I know, the destination charges were "standardized" for Corvettes (but not other Chevrolet models). For 1969, I am almost sure this was the case. I THINK it was the case from, at least, about 1965, or so, but I'm not certain of it.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1967 Base Price?
I just got "The Corvette Restorer" today. Check out page Page 30. Article "A Man and His Car". Retail price for a 1967 Convertible is $4141.00 plus Destination Charge $68.50. Total $4209.50. Corvette Black Book list, Retail Price $4240.75 I can't tell if the Black Book prices include the destination charge. If so that would account for some of the discrepancy, but not all. So I'm back to the original question. What was the Retail Price of a 1967 Corvette Convertible? What were the Destination Charges?- Top

Re: 1967 Base Price?
Ralph, I don't know how early the cars were that you compared prices with, but my car was completed Dec. 7, 66 and picked up at the dealer on Dec. 14th. I have original documentation which says that the base price for my car was $4141.00 and the destination charge was $67.75.- Top

Re: 1967 Base Price?
Thanks Warren. Your base price of $4141.00 is consistant with his and the Restorer. The destination charges varied slightly. His Destination Charges were $68.50(I called him to confirm), yours being $67.75, seems pretty close. Base upon this information I assume that the destination charges did vary slightly. Maybe more people could chime in.
Why does the Black Book list the retail price as $4240.75?
Also, I just took a second look at the window sticker on page 30 of the Corvette Restorer again and notice the Aux Hardtop was a no cost option?? Per the Black Book the price should be $231.75. What could that be all about?- Top
