I have a 67 Coupe and a 67 convertible serial # range 13000 and 21000 respectively. The rear license mount holes for the convertible(ser 21000) have what I would call the normal square opening for the plastic plug that is in use today. The coupe however, has two larger round (5/8")area holes that I have no idea what goes into them to secure the plate. Is there something changed or non-original about this/either configuration? What pieces do I need to set up the coupe to mount a license plate properly? Thank you in adavance for your information and advice.

Re: C2- Rear license plate mount holes
Glenn, It sounds like a similar sitaution that I encountered on my 67. The fiberglass around the white nylon nuts had chipped and broken enough to no longer hold the nuts. I solved the problem by placing foil tape on the inside surface to serve as a base, then layering on fiberglass from the outside. I completely glassed over the holes then cut out square holes with a dremel just enough to snugly hold the new nylon nuts. Good luck.- Top

Re: C2- Rear license plate mount holes
Hi Tom... Not this type of situation. The round holes are perfectly round with a factory-type bevel surrounding the opening. Really got me. I think it must be a repro panel or something. I also should mention the coupe is a small block without sidepipes and the vert is a big-block with sidepipes, if this could have a bearing.- Top
