Hello, Why do the half shafts u-joints only have grease fittings on the outside u-joint (nearest to the wheel) and the inside (nearest to the differential) do not? 72 454/400

original midyears u-joints didn't have any zerk fittings and i suspect the c-3s also lacked grease fitings. mike -

Original GM U-joints did not use any zerk fittings. Generally, the drilled U-joints are weaker and can break, usually with high torque big blocks and hard driving...CraigComment

Eric If the grease fittings are installed on the half shafts you may not be able to grease them as I have found it very hard to do without removing the shaft. No room to get at the grease fitting and as I remember the inside is hardest to get at..Your inside joints may be original. LyleLyle
