Im looking at purchasing a 65 real fulie. I hear good and bad from both sides as to the dependability of the system. Some guys say they fall apart just looking at them. Others say just start them on a regular basis and you wont have any problems. Whats the actual fact of the matter ?? Mike Chase

Systems are stone dependable once set up properly, I drive my '62 all the time, I can't tell you how many "FI Problems" are cured by a good tuneup.Bill Clupper #618- Top

I agree with Bill. I have been running a "320" unit on my '60 for almost 25 years with very few problems. I believe the biggest problem with them was mechanics who did not understand them. Don H.- Top

Re: 65 Fulie need an unbiased opinion
Mike,
I have had my 65 fuelie since late 1965 and I have had very few problems with it. It's almost "set it and forget it" most problems you hear about "Fuelies" are not Fuel Injection related problems at all.
Most mechanics don't know anything about them so they think they are taboo.

Floyd

Re: 65 Fulie need an unbiased opinion
When you have "fuel injection " problems, fix whatever is wrong with the ignition and drive on. My 62 fuelie is driven almost daily. It is trouble free, starts easily, and runs great. There are different cold start and hot start proceedures that need to be adhered to that are a little different than most carb cars. IF you follow these proceedures and drive the car regularily, it should be no problem.- Top

Re: 65 Fulie need an unbiased opinion
Mine runs great when it's 90+. The only problem is on a hot restart. Then it will run rough for a few seconds until some "cold" fuel gets in the system. I have more trouble on a mild day with "winter" fuel. Then it may take a minuet to get the fuel straightened out vs. 10-15 seconds on "summer" gas.- Top
