    Powerglide slips

Does anyone know of a great powerglide Mechanis in NJ? Or any suggestions for me to look at? I have a 1960 that works great in First gear but slips in and out for a long time into second gear during acceleration (or when I am going up a hill it wants to downshift, gives up second but doesn't pick up first fast enough).
    Thanks

    Jim,
I hunted for a long time for someone who knew cast iron Powerglides in my area, but found that there are very few left still working. I finally gave up and bought Roy Barratz's video and did my own transmission. I don't know how mechanically inclined you are, but the PG is a fairly simple transmission, and if you do your own engine work, then you should be able to rebuild on of these transmissions. There is a guy in Ma. that sells all the parts for cast iron PG's. He advertises in the driveline all the time.

    Regards, John McGraw

I had my powerglide done a little over a year ago by a transmission shop in Peekskill, NY. It sat in my frame for about a year before I finished the car and turned the key for the first time. To my surprise it works perfectly and no leaks!! E-mail me if your interested in the location of the shop. I think the owner sold to a chain but I can find out for you . P.S. it wasn't cheap!!

You can find my Video in Classic Chevy Club, for less then $200.00 you can do it your self Cast or Alum. It's a no brainer, or you can spend $1000.00's to have it done for you. I think they sell them for $49.95. I don't mean to in-"salt" any one,so if you can remove the trans, you can rebuild it.
