1969 L-88's coming out of the woodwork!

    Hi Guys;
Another 1969 L-88 is on ebay Item # 2421363275. is this a clone? the color combo looks rare. I also didn't know L-88's came with N14 factory sidepipes, I thought they only came with the regular exhaust system( as the N11 off road exhaust was only offered from 63-68). There is also another questionable " no documentation" L-88 coupe for sale. This is the 3rd in 3 months!
    Have a great weekend,

    Clone. Fake.

It's been on ebay several times. It went through the Bloomington auction a few years ago, and they had to take it back when it was found to be a fake.

And not a very good one at that. The VIN and build date don't match. Side pipes were not available until December 1968, after #9000+.

Correct me if Im wrong but I think I have seen this car like half a dozen times on ebay the green convertible and it never sells I hope no one gets screwed..

I have heard that GM is supposed to release info on our cars anyone hear of this?
I know that the records were destroyed and NRCS knows this so how can GM do it now?

regardless I would love for it to happen it would kill all of this cloning just to make a buck....

          Reba,

I saw the auction also, but I spotted the engine assembly date (12/28) as incorrect for the VIN. The advertised build date, C17 (October 17) looks like the correct month for a VIN of 4899. October's ending VIN looks to be 6272. I don't have a birthday book which may shed more light on this.

Thanks Patrick, as Johnny stated I wish someone would come out with the info to stop all the cloning, but until they do, us wanna-be L-88 owners have somewhere to ask...NCRS tech board.
            Thanks again,

1969 production did not begin until September. C17 would be November; but the VIN would be in line for an October car.

"GM is supposed to release info"

This is the current rumor and I have heard it from several sources, two within GM and one regular customer, (retired GM). For years GM has denied the existence of these records. This should prove interesting

This car was suddenly pulled from auction and is no longer available. Anybody know if it was pulled because if the questionable history or because it was purchased outside the auction?

Hmmm! I wonder if or posts and my questions to Kruse had anything to do with it?

                      I doubt it.

A friend of mine who was almost shafted on this car has informed eBay/Kruse of the problems for well over a year, each time it comes up for auction. They never pulled it before.
