Can anyone tell me which fan clutch to pursue for my 67 big block air car with automatic? It has a 5 blade original fan and I wish to replace the fan clutch with a NCRS correct fan clutch. The 67 judging manual lists two designs.

Re: C2 Fan Clutch Selection
Guess I'm missing the question here.... JG lists two different fan clutch versions because there were two qualified suppliers back then (your AIM will call out one PN as well as an alternate) and both were active in sending units to the Corvette final assy plant. One supplier (Eaton) made the bi-metal coil triggered unit while the other supplier (Schwitzer) made the bi-metal plate actuated unit. Both are considered concours correct.
You start the process by getting a correct/orignal fan clutch core (not all that easy as BB parts are rather tough to come by) and having someone like Fred Oliva, Vintage Automotive Research, do the restoration for you. Sometimes, Fred has whole blood clutch cores and can give you turn-key service, but this isn't always the case. When 'shopping' for a clutch core, pay attention to the JG book's description regarding shaft length since this is where the major difference lies between SB and BB fan clutches of the era....- Top

You don't need BB core to start with. I asked Fred if he can convert a SB into a BB during his restoration process. The charge is an extra $20 for the conversion. My Project Pictures
