        Chester,

I had to get a complete smog system for my 1969 small block 350 as unfortunately the original system did not make it to the year 1999, because someone probably ripped it off for more horsepower in the early 70's. I picked up a pair of correct A.I.R exhaust manifolds for about $125 each from Greenhoes Corvette Supply (they have a LOT of good stuff for 68-69's but be prepared to pay $$), they are listed in Hemmings News. For the rest of the system (smog pump, diverter valve, hoses, clamps etc) Bill Hodel can get you a complete dated, correct system . For my small block 350 the complete system was in the $750 range but im not sure if the big block is more expensive. Bill Hodell was very pleasant to deal with and helpful. He is also listed in Hemmimgs News under the "Smog" section.

        Kenny-1969 350 conv ,currently with an A.I.R. system :)

Hello Chester; Regarding the smog system, I bought a complete system for my 69 427/400 from Bill Hodel. I didn't need exhaust manifolds, but I got EVERYTHING else, correctly dated for my car. The cost was approximately $950.00 including shipping. I was very pleased. Everything was new or rebuilt. thanks, jc Joe I assumed these were correctly dated rebuilds. I paid $105 for my H2O pump. That SMOG system is hard too swallow.... Can this go on after the bodies mounted?

                        Chester----

All of the "ballpark" prices that I mentioned are for correctly dated REBUILT units. Yes, the smog system can easily be installed later. The main expense for the smog system is the correct diverter valve. Big block diverter valves are scarce and not reproduced. A correct, originally configured, rebuilt A.I.R. pump is not that hard to come by for about $100. The pump bracket and brace are reproduced and available for about $100 for both. The A.I.R pipes are reproduced and available for about $120 for the pair, or less used. The check valves run about $25 each or less used (and much cheaper at Pick Your Part wrecking yard). The manifold individual, internal smog tubes are a little expensive at about $65 for the set and used won't do on this one. The rest of the miscellaneous stuff you need will run less than $75. So all this adds up to about just over $500. The rest is in the diverter valve, unless, of course, you're willing to use the plastic GM replacement which is fully functional, but a totally incorrect configuration. Big block Corvette diverters are unique, so you can't ****** one off some other car at the wrecking yard. Of course, there are some passenger car units that are almost undetectably similar and fully functional. But, you guys don't expect me to give away ALL my secrets, do you?
