67 BB radiator removal/ps/Vintage ac & flex fan

I've never had a car with this set-up before. There is a spacer for the flex fan with no discernable fastening to the triple pulley. I am unable to get enough clearence to remove the fan shroud and radiator as a unit. Will I be better off to un-bolt the radiator support and slide it forward? If I can remove the flex fan spacer, the shroud and radiator should clear. Does anybody have experience with this non-factory set up of big block, aftermarket radiator, power steering, Vintage a/c, and flex fan?

    Ed,

Aftermarket flex fans and spacers use long bolts that go through both the fan and the spacer, look on the front of the fan and you should see four 1/2 headed bolts, just use a 1/2 wrench and remove the 4 bolts and both fan and spacer will come right off.

      Dennis,
The fan came right off but the spacer is still stuck fast. I've whacked it with a rubber hammer and it's really on there. I can rotate it but I can't remove it. Thanks,
      Ed

The spacer has evidently been pressed on the snout of the water pump when the bolts were drawn up. It will have to come off with more force, be careful.

          Ed,

Generaly it should come off rather easily. if it has corroded some it might stick to the water pump shaft. if it rotates, pop it with a rubber hammer, rotate it 180 degrees, pop it, and continue till it works its way off. even if spacer is damaged in removing it, replacements are available at most parts stores for under $10.

            Dennis and Jim,
Thanks for the help. It came off hard, I had to really pound on it.
