What is the sticky glue material that is found oozed out from the fasteners that secure the 454 numbers to the hood of a 1970 (and other years) big block hood? Any ideas on what to use to make mine get that original "ooze" appearance?

Tony, since you Top Flighted today at Pittsburgh(congradulations!!!) I don't think you need that "Ooze???" for Bowtie judging!!! I have seen that material that seems similar to what you're talking about in that dark gray/black rope(string)caulking for sealing heater box shells to the firewall. I think body shop supply stores have this material-it also seems to always stay soft and pliable. I've used it before, just can't remember exactly where I got it. Paul Borowski #26140- Top

Hello Tony; Congratulations on your Top Flight Award. I buy 3-M brand "rope caulk" as Paul describes at our local auto parts store. I've seen only black and white colors. Some people refer to this as "dum-dum" caulk. Hope this helps. Chuck1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight
