There is a really good looking '57 on Ebay with a VIN of E57S102213. It says in the ad that it is fuel injected with a 4 speed. I thought that the FI and 4 speed came much later that the E57S102213 VIN. What are the opinions of the experts....is it real?....thanks http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2419170027

Re: '57 on Ebay
I have seen a couple of vauge references to some sort of 4 speed dealer retrofit program for 57"s???? I'm sure many if not most 57 3 speeds have been retrofited by someone in the last 46 years, but was there some sort of factory sponsored retrofit program for 57's when they were almost new?- Top

Re: '57 on Ebay
yes there was a retrofit deal on 4 speeds back in 57 as 2 of my buds that bought FI got their 4 speeds that way because i helped them install the trans at the dealership. they came in wooden crates but i am not clear what was done with the 3 speed trans if they were sent back or what.- Top

Re: '57 on Ebay
seem to recall a new over the counter T-10 costing about 212 bucks and a hurst shifter about 75 back in 1960.Guys around here with the bucks installed them in their c-1 and shoebox chevy that-away(dealers only supplied parts). poor mikie used t-85 with O.d. with adaptor plate to 394 olds. T-85 was the tranny that borg warner modified to create the t-10. Only old flatus expellers would know that (dipstick told me)- Top
