Clem's post on his original paperwork prompts me to return to my favorite subject. I've attached a link to a recently completed eBay auction item -- the remains of a 396 coupe # 22301 (actually just the firewall w/VIN and trim tags) along with its original FL title and the MSO. The seller has correctly determined that it is a 396 by the brake horsepower figure of 53.6 (a 327 would have 51.2, and the 427 escapes me for the moment [Amgwert gave the formula way back]). Also the shipping weight for this particular car is given as 3229 lbs.
Did Art Armstrong include the MSO data base on his search for the holy grail of production records within the bowels of Chevy ? Just who is this St. Louis guy, F. Blandini(o?), Assistant Cashier, who signed the MSO's ?
This MSO info would allow determining of body style, engine displacement, and the (combination of) options to match the weight.
eBay MSO, first title for 396 remains
