after installing new battery and driving around for a while, shut off my 63 swc let stand for approx.2o min. car would not crack over at all. Installed new cables also. Put light charge on car for short time car started right up. Again when warm no cracking at all just amp gauge droping and interoir lights blinking (with door open)

Re: 1963 not starting after shutting off
Sounds like your alternator isn't charging the battery. Try starting the engine and removing the positive battery cable - if the engine dies that means the alternator isn't functioning. Also, if the battery is shot, using the alternator to charge the battery will ruin the alternator. Always make sure the battery is fully charged and load tested. If you don't have alternator and battery testing equipment, take the car to a reliable shop.- Top

Re: 1963 not starting after shutting off
Greg,
I had a similar problem until I carefully rerouted the cables to the starter so they were farther away from the exhaust manifold. The heat of the manifold may be causing higher resistance, which combined with the weak battery may contribute to the problem. Try waiting the same amount of time without charging the battery - it may be related to the time delay and subsequent cooling, rather than the battery itself. Worked for me (although a slightly weak battery will compound the problem).
just my 2 cents.
