dist part number help

Dual point, cast iron, tach drive, no vacuum advance can. Part number 1110985 according to the red band. Anyone know what it came from??

GM #1110985 was originally used for 1962 Corvettes with 340hp. This distributor is a dual point type. It's one of the few Corvette distributors of dual point and one of the few which lack vacuum advance.

This unit was a popular over-the-counter item for many years and there are a lot of them out there. A LOT more than there ever were manufactured 1962 Corvettes that originally had one installed.

Thanks Joe. The date on the tag is 1-A-16. Any idea how to read this. Please excuse my ignorance.

January 16, 1971 or January 16, 1981. It's also remotely possible that this was a distributor built on January 16, 1961 for use on a very early 1962 Corvette. I very much doubt it, though. As I mentioned, this distributor was sold in large numbers over-the counter for many years.
