Brown dist. cap? what did I buy?

I bought and recieved an NOS brown distributor cap, top says Delco-Remy patent 571594, NO "Patent Pending" and NO "R", on the inside (at the top)it says Delco Remy with the words "made in Canada" under Delco and above Remy. Can anyone please tell me the origin of this cap?? It also came in a black/white/orange cap
with the part number 1942654 and the numbers 1#D-309.

Current version of GM L-88 distributor cap, replacement for, but not an accurate replication of the correct cap for a '67-69 L-88 engined Corvette, as describedin the Judging Guides for the various years of availability.

if i remember correctly all delco caps that had copper contacts instead of aluminum were the brown material.
