I'm curious, was the trunk liner (as a trim piece) primed? I realize the paint finish would be some what flat but the prime/no prime would also effect how much texure would telegraph through to the final finish.

Terry - I do not know the answer to your question. However, I can't imagine why the General could see any need to spend the additional $ to prime a piece of pressmolded cardboard. -

I never knew this part was painted. I thought it was dyed. Therefore, no need for primer.Comment

St. Louis didn't paint it - it was received in color from the supplier and installed on the Trim Line.Comment

Dunno - I don't know that I've ever seen a "real" original divider panel; they didn't last very long. Have no idea if the color coating was "paint" or "dye". Jim Frakes may know - he's owned his '56 since new.Comment
