Realizing that I will need a correct '61 Jack, handle & Lug wrench in order to prevent major point loss in judging..... Any suggestions/comments about searching for original restored set and let's say Corvette Central's "Exact repro" items. It seems about $270 for CC's set including Lug Wrench Clip and Pad set.???

There's a way to tell an original jack ...
from any reproduction I've seen on the market. On the same surface that the number is cast are ribs running each direction. Two ribs are cast just inside the hinge, one at each end, running across the surface. Two more extend along the surface, one each side, lenghthwise from hinge to hinge. In the area between where the two sets of ribs cross, those running the length of the surface will be very slightly lower than those that run across from side to side on an original jack. All reproductions I have seen have the ribs at an even height. If you are looking for a jack for judging purposes, you may want to find someone that has an original so you can see the difference before you spend your $$.- Top

Re: There's a way to tell an original jack ...
Bernard, now that's what I wanted to hear....Sounds like you have been there before. I do want to try for an original jack and spend the bucks if the condition is good. I will try E-bay and I will be at Carlisle looking before car is judged in Sept. Thanks again for details...bruce39024- Top

Re: Original Jack pix ?
Been thinking about your June 5 response and description of ribs on original jack. I have no reference point 'cause I have no jack at all. Would you be able to take close-up digital pictures of jack & e-mail them to me ? Are there pictures or diagrams available anywhere that would show the difference between repro's and original jack details? Hope you get this message, it's been a few days since last response. My e-mail is bg61red@optonline.net. Thanks again for help....Bruce #39024- Top
