I checked my weatherstripping around the trunk lid & found it to be attached with black cement/glue. I want to remove it. (NCRS TRUNK SECTION page 23; 2nd paragraph... attached with sloppy brush-applied dull yellow cement. Can anybody give some advice 'cause you have done it already, what's the best method #1- to remove the existing weatherstriping? #2 remove the existing black cement without too much damage to trunk lid paint #3 how to prep surface for new weatherstripping cement? #4 where to buy yellow cement acceptable for Flight juding and #5 where is best place to get best quality replacement weatherstripping for trunk lid? Thanks from a relatively new NCRS member #39024- trying to Top Flight my Trunk Section by myself before September Show.

Re: '61 trunk section
Check at your local auto parts store. You'll find 3M Weatherstrip Release Solvent on the shelf next to the tubes of black & yellow 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive. Follow directions and it's a piece of cake to remove, clean, and re-install your existing weatherstrip using the yellow verision of 'gorilla snot'....- Top

Re: '61 trunk section
Jack.. thanks. I will track down remover and tackle job this week. I heard that the yellow "gorilla snot" should not be bright yellow from 3M, but a duller obtained from a Tom Maxwell in MD. I have to track him down this week also. Thanks again. I'll be Re:Trunk section ..for awhile it looks. Bruce#39024- Top

Dennis...NAPA clear cement noted...thanks. I'll be Re:Trunk Section for awhile this summer. Feel free to help out whenever I post for help. Itis greatly appreciated. I'm awaiting CD from NCRS -Restorer Volume #1. I will check research as much as I can before jumping onto Tech site right away. But I have to admit, even if I asks dumb questions, members have been very accurate and helpful & I will continue using site. Thanks again..Bruce#39024- Top
