I am in the process of replacing, temporarily, my current 63 radio and speaker with an updated version. Does anyone have any recommendations as to which brand for an AM/FM cassette and speaker. I'ver seen the one in the Corvette Central catalog, but are they worth it?

If you want one which has the knob configuration as original, then I think that the CC unit (which, I believe, is manufactured by Auto Custom Sound) is just about the "only game in town" (hence, the price). If you don't care about the original control knob configuration (i.e. you'd be ok with using trim plugs to "temporarily" plug the holes; you can use the chrome trim plugs widely available and paint them interior color to make them less obtrusive; strip off the chrome with muriatic acid, first, though), then you could use many available DIN-chassis receivers. Call Crutchfield for a recommendation. They may even have available an installation kit. www.crutchfield.com
You can obtain a superb-sounding, modern unit for a very modest price from Crutchfield's available units. But, NOT if you want original knob configuration. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I have a Custom Autosound reciever, Kenwood CD disk changer and amplifier. System sounds great - make sure you get an amplifier otherwise you'll get a lot of distortion when you increase the volume.- Top
