    C3 Vin Plate

Simple but I have to ask. The VIN plate has come off the window pillar on my 1970 and I am going to glue it back on. Standing outside the vehicle looking in should the numbers be right side up or upside down. Thanks. Its an easy answer unless you don't know it. Thanks

Your numbers should read left to right, with the first number of the vin at the bottom of the pillar, and the last number of your vin, toward's the top of the pillar.

I hope this was clear enough, and that it helps.

There are rivets available to reattach it correctly.

'Restoration' rosette rivets used to be listed in the Paragon catalog, but I haven't checked in a while....

So, in effect the numbers are right side up from the outside of the car. Is it okay to paint the VIN plate as it is weathered? Black?

Regarding rosette rivets from a long ago thread on this board: Paragon no longer sells the rosette rivets, but they are available from Trim Tag Company at 847-478-8247. I've never called them, so I can't confirm this info.
