    C1 front clip replacement guide

I need to fit a full front clip and both inner fenders but don't know how to start this process. Is there a manual or documented "How to"?

Do I start by grinding down the area in front of the windshield where the front clip attaches so that the windshield and posts align with the door posts?

When do I start attaching the inner fenders? Do I screw, rivet or glue them on?

As you can see...I need help and there ain't too many 58 Vette experts down here in Australia.

This is an 'aggressive' job that most folks leave to those skilled in Corvette fiberglass repair. Original components of the front clip were bonded together using factory tooling fixtures to maintain individual panel alignment. You'll have several choices along the way: (1) buy individual front end panels and bond them together yourself, (2) buy used/original panels from Corvette specialty scrap yards and put them together, (3) buy a pre-assembled, reproduction, 1-piece, front end and install, (4) buy latest press molded reproduction components either separately or pre-assembled.

Regardless of who does the work or what you start with in terms of body panel components, buying and reading literature on the subject can't hurt! On this web site (STORE) you'll find a publication, 'Fiberglass Reapir And Construction Handbook' that does a pretty good job of talking to the issues involved. Also, the Corvette parts catalog house, Ecklers, cut their teeth in the specialty area of Corvette fiberglass components and repair and they have several good books on the subject for the do-it-yourself bodyman. Good luck!!!!!!

I'm in Sydney on the eastern side of the country.

          Wrong side, but..

Try Ron Flood, 343 Railway Road, Shenton Park 6008 - maybe he knows of someone.
