    Paint problem?

Hi..I painted a part with John Deere Blitz black. When I was done I thought this is too shiny to look original. I want to paint it with Krylon which matches a lot better. The JD is enamel and the KRy. is laquer. The part is un-strippable. What can I cover the JD with so I can paint it with Krylon?
    Thx in advance.

    Bruce,
I am in the same situation. JD Blitz is too shiny. Krylon Semi Flat Black 1613 is acrylic lacquer,I confirmed at 1-800-4KRYLON. They do not suggest lacquer over enamel and offered no primers or sealers to solve the problem. Let me know what works for you.

      Bruce:

What part are you talking about? Can you sand off or wash off most of it with lacquer thinner? If not, you should be able to scuff it and apply VERY light coats of the lacquer without wrinkling the enamel.

It's for my Caddy, it's an interior piece, a quality piece. I can't take the chance of screwing it up.
There has to be some way to get it corrected......

Bruce, since you painted with enamel, you could try painting with rust-oleum Satin, it has a low sheen finish. I like the sheen of this paint and used it for all my low gloss interior painting.

Mike....Is Rustoleum a enamel based paint, for sure?

The can says on the front label, "smooth protective enamel" It is a slow drying paint but I like the way it looks. Try it on something else before you paint your part and see if you like it.
