69 BB Valve Cover Breather and Decal Questions

    3 questions regarding a 69 BB:

#1. On the passengers side valve cover, should the round paper "tag", "736C" be present around the PCV valve or not?

#2. On the drivers side, my current breather is brass, configured at about a 110 degree angle. I ordered a new one. The "replacement" is black phosphate, configured at 90 degrees. Which is correct?

#3. On the broadcast "decals" on the back of the passengers valve cover, in my case "LN", should these be one piece or two piece, i.e., the LN stamped on one piece of paper, or the "L" and the "N" stamped on two individual pieces of paper and applied separately. Thanks for the help. Chuck

    Chuck,

#3, I think was originally one piece. It's just a lot easier for the vendors to mix-and-match two letters to sell the appropriate codes.

Interesting, Patrick. I had my car judged recently and got "knocked" a point for having a "one piece" LN code label. Was told that I should have two individual letters. Chuck

I wouldn't be surprised if the preponderance of repros has tainted judges enough that they think the two piece is correct. It wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened. And, as you know, what judges say one day won't necessarily be true the next.

In fact, the repros through 69 have been around long enough that I don't include them in my study of suffix stickers.

Does the 69 manual address this?

Label should be one peice. Breather tube is black plated. See manual.
