1964 & 1965 FI plenum serial # stampings

I have been told by a couple of people that the VIN serial number was not stamped on the FI plenum until production started on the 1965 cars. However in my research I have seen one 1964 FI car that had the VIN serial number stamped on the right side of the plenum and according to the book"Essentials, A Corvette collector's guide 1956-1967 by Chuck Brigermann" on page 165 of the 1964 section he states that "GM began stamping the vehicle serial number on the plenum early in 1964". I have a 65 which is stamped and my FI unit is a very early one, serial #1323 and yes it is a 380 model.Does anyone else know or have a 64 with the serial number stamped on the plenum? If so would you send me a photo of it?

In 1964 early fuel injection units were #375R these units were 1963 units reworked because the #380 units were not ready for production. NOT many of these units were used check Nolan Adams book.I know for a fact these units don't have a ser. # of the car on them.

Agree with mike in that i've never seen a 375R that was Vin stamped. Most 64 380's were not vin stamped either, only ones i've seen stmped were later in production year of 64. Most , but not all 65 380's were vin stamped but have seen 7 380's, all in dec 64 and jan 65 that were not vin stamped. Why, who knows. mike

I have an early 65 Fuelie it's build date was November 19,1964 and it has a the vin stamped on the dog house. Who knows??

Sorry, I was making a statement and not a question about the plenum serial # stamp on my early 65 fuelie.
The "who knows?" was just meaning, that some did have serial # stamped and some didn't, who really knows for sure.
